A year of war but also a year of progress in green technologies

2022 will be remembered as the year Russia invaded Ukraine and the world focused on high energy prices.

But in certain aspects, it was also a year of progress in green tech and climate policy, partly because of the energy crisis caused by Russia’s war in Ukraine. The EU is accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. In 2022 the EU institutions decided on a new climate package to increase ambition, sharpen the policy instruments and accelerate the transition.

The war has also highlighted Europe’s dependency on metals critical for the green transition.
